A Great Tool That WILL Improve Your Game!

I recently had a chance to read over and study a couple of instructional books about golf. I reviewed them and basically just want to let you know what I thought of them. First off, let's start with the book titled, The Simple Swing.

The Simple Swing is a book that basically advertises that it can cut your handicap by up to 12 strokes and improve your golf game in 2 weeks. This book has been bought by golfers all over the world (36 countries to be exact) and boasts a 95% success rate. It guarantees to drop at least 12 strokes off your game in 2 weeks. I had a few pretty bad golfer friends read this book and they dropped by about 13 strokes average, not kidding.

The book is nice because it give good results fast, so you won't get frustrated. I recommend this book highly. Order Here Now!

The other book I read was How To Break 80, which was also very well written. The author has helped hundreds of golfers around the world break 80 and his book has been profiled on the likes of PGATour.com and GolfDigest.com. The author is not a golf pro and therefore might be better able to understand what you are going through.

He gives very clear and concise steps to improve your golf game in a short time, and it also seems to work. I would also highly recommend ordering this book as well. Order How To Break 80!

I found it very difficult to say I like the first book better because they were more like number 1 and 1a, both excellent books.

The only thing I can say is check both out, just buy one of them because you really can't lose either way. I personally liked The Simple Swing a little better and my friends raved about it, but How To Break 80 is ten dollars cheaper, so I guess you could also go with that one just to save ten bucks.

Golf Swing Teaching Aids

Lets face it, golf is a hard game. There are many people out there claiming to be able to help you play golf better, many of them by using various golf swing teaching aids. I would say most of these golf swing teaching aids are garbage and not even worth mentioning, but there are a few that are worthwhile and one that really will help you out the most.

The hinged golf club is the real deal of golf swing teaching aids. Certain types of hinged golf clubs are endorsed by some really big names in golf, which doesn't always mean a lot, but I do believe it counts for something.

The hinged golf club works by the hinge only staying in tact if you swing correctly. This means the tempo has to be correct, the take-away, the follow-thru, wrist action, pretty much everything. That's where this club beats out all other golf swing teaching aids. Most of the others can just help you with one aspect of your game, which leaves you buying multiple things.

It works better than the rest by pushing consistency on to our golf swing. If you can develop the same swing every time, you will know exactly where your ball is going, even if your swing isn't perfect or doesn't look pretty, the important thing is that it is reproducible.

Of all the golf swing teaching aids out there, it's pretty clear I recommend going with a hinged golf club trainer. As I said earlier there are some others out there that do provide benefits.

The golf swing plane trainers (large white circles you basically get into and swing) do provide some good feedback as well. The problem with them is that they are large and bulky which aren't conducive to most peoples homes, and they also only work on one aspect of your game, the swing plane. I recommend just going to a driving range that has one.

One other of the golf swing teaching aids I liked is designed specifically to fix your slice. It forces you to swing from the inside out, instead of the outside in, which is what usually is causing you to slice your ball.

Bottom line, there are many golf swing teaching aids available, including a few books about the basics I didn't mention, that really do help your game and are worth spending the money on.

A Great Golf Swing Exercise

A golf swing exercise is extremely important to improving your golf game, as much so as actually going to the range and playing golf. It allows you to form a good, strong, and repeatable golf swing, which in turns allows you to know where your ball is going to go every time you swing.

A good golf swing exercise is necessary because a golf swing is unnatural to our bodies, it is not a normal movement that should come easy to us. We must practice and repeat this movement over and over again and strengthen the muscles involved in the golf swing. By strengthening these muscles and teaching them what to do, you will hit longer, more accurate drives and irons.

For this golf swing exercise you will need a dumbbell, preferably on the lighter side, say 5 pounds. It is basically a combination of a lunge and a twist. Start out standing normal holding the dumbbell with both hands hanging down in front of you. Next, as you do a lunge (step forward with one leg), rotate your upper body to the same side while holding out the dumbbell chest high and rotating it outwards along with your upper body. Return to the starting position and repeat with the opposite leg and side.

Try and do about 3 or 4 sets of these with about 8-10 reps for each set. If you can do this golf swing exercise a few times a week, I think you will notice your drives and irons begin to start going a little bit farther, assuming you have the correct swing that is.

Golf is a difficult sport that no one ever truly masters, you can only try and improve each time you play. A good golf swing exercise done at home on a regular basis will help you towards this goal. Good luck and have fun.

How To Calculate Your Golf Handicap

This article will show you how to quickly calculate your golf handicap. There are calculators available but I feel everyone should know what goes in to calculating a golf handicap and how to do it themselves.

The whole point of a golf handicap is so that players of differing abilities can play golf together and compete. It basically compares how you golf to how a scratch golfer golfs.

So follow the steps below to calculate your handicap:

1. First off, you will need scores from at least the last five rounds of golf you played and up to 20 rounds of golf at most. You
will also need the slope rating of each golf course and course rating, which should be provided to you on either the golf
scorecard or by just asking the golf course. This example will assume you are using the last 5 rounds only.

2. Next, take your score and subtract the course rating from it.

3. Multiply that number by 113. Now divide that number by the slope of the course. The number you get is your differential.

4. After you have calculated 5 differentials, you add them all together and divide by five to get the average. Take that average
and multiply it by 0.96. Congratulations, you just calculated your handicap.

I'm guessing it's higher than you expected, so get out to the range or course and practice and get your golf handicap lower.

How To Use The Driving Range To Play Golf Better

We are going to go over a key practice tip I think will help you play golf better everyday. Your golf play begins at the driving range. Yes, as they say, practice does make perfect, but it must be the right king of practice. To play golf better, you must practice correctly at the driving range, therefore you must be practicing the right things. If you go to the range and practice using the wrong grip or bend your left arm(assuming you are a righty), you will not play golf any better, ever. I recommend getting at least 3 lessons so you have the correct form down. You can then get a refresher every 2 or 3 months to make sure you aren't going back to old habits. If every time you go to the driving range you are practicing with the correct form, grip, etc. you will get a little better every time. Although what I just said might seem like common sense, I guarantee you thousands of people go to the range everyday and practice horrible golf, I see it all the time. Your time is valuable and if you make the driving range as productive as possible, you will play golf better!
The next easy and fun tip for the driving range is to actually pretend you are golfing. The next time you play golf, save your scorecard. Take it with you to the driving range next time and pick a number of holes out, depending on how much time you have, and play those holes. You will have pictures and layouts of each hole including yardage. Every single swing you take out there you should be visualizing the hole you are on, the sand traps, the water, the trees, everything. Play the holes you have chosen, keep score, penalize yourself, even take a mulligan here and there. This is actually a lot of fun. You feel as if you are almost out there sometimes. It’s also almost like cheating a little. The next time you go to that course with your buddy, you will play better than the last time and have somewhat of an advantage. Trust me, not only will you enjoy the driving range better but this WILL help you to play golf better, especially the next time you are on that course.
If you follow these two helpful hints, I am sure you will start playing golf better in no time. Remember, practice makes perfect, but perfect practice is a must!
